Terms of Service

Welcome to Grocery List (“the App”), provided by Vincent Charmeau (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1) What the App Does

  • The App keeps your grocery lists: items, categories, favorites, and photos you choose to add.
  • You can share a list with other people, who can then see and edit it in the App or on a web page in their browser.
  • The App is available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, and includes Home Screen widgets.
  • The App is intended for personal use.

2) Accounts

  • The App creates an anonymous account for you the first time you open it, so that your lists have somewhere to be saved. You do not have to give us any information for this.
  • You can choose to sign in with Apple. This keeps your lists if you delete the App or change devices, and it is required before you can share a list.
  • You can sign out or delete your account at any time in the App’s settings.

3) Free Plan and Grocery List Pro

  • The App can be used for free up to a limited number of added items. Adding more requires Grocery List Pro.
  • Grocery List Pro is bought through Apple as an in-app purchase. The price and billing period are shown in the App before you buy.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. Payments and refunds are handled by Apple.

4) Acceptable Use

  • You may use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
  • You may not misuse the App or attempt to interfere with its normal operation.
  • You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or redistribute the App or any part of it.

5) Your Content and Shared Lists

  • You retain all rights to the lists, items, and photos you put into the App.
  • Anyone who has a list’s join code or link can see and edit that list, including its photos. Share codes and links only with people you trust.
  • If the owner of a shared list deletes it, or deletes their account, the list is deleted for everyone on it.
  • You are responsible for what you add to a list, including lists you share with others.

6) Intellectual Property

  • The App, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by Vincent Charmeau and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
  • You are granted a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App in accordance with these Terms.

7) Disclaimers

  • The App is a tool for keeping lists. We do not guarantee that it will always be available or that your lists will never be lost.
  • The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind.

8) Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including the loss of lists or other content.

9) Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or misuse the App.

10) Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains how Grocery List handles information. The short version: we do not collect your data for our own use. What you put into the App is saved in Google Firebase, a cloud service from Google, so that your lists are kept, stay in step across your devices, and can be shared with the people you choose.

1) What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers.
  • The App does not use analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs.
  • We do not look at your lists or use them for any purpose other than providing the App to you.
  • The App does not ask for your location, contacts, or microphone.

2) What Is Saved in Google Firebase

To make the App work, the following is saved on Google’s servers through Firebase:

  • Your lists and what is in them: list names and settings, items, categories, and favorites.
  • Photos you choose to add to items or favorites.
  • An account identifier, which is a random ID. The App creates it automatically and it does not contain your name.
  • If you sign in with Apple, the email address Apple gives us for you. Apple lets you hide your real address and provide a private relay address instead.
  • How many free items you have added, and which shared lists you are on.

This information may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates.

3) Shared Lists

  • When you share a list, everyone who joins it can see and change its contents, including its photos.
  • Other people on a list do not see your email address.
  • Someone who opens a shared list in a web browser is given an anonymous account in that browser so that they can edit the list. They are not asked for any personal information.

4) Third-Party Services

  • Google Firebase stores the information described above and signs you in. Like any online service, it receives technical information such as your IP address when the App connects to it. See Google’s Firebase privacy information.
  • Apple handles Sign in with Apple and all payments. We never see your payment details.
  • RevenueCat tells the App whether you have Grocery List Pro. It receives your purchase history for the App and a random identifier, not your name or email address. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.

5) Data Stored on Your Device

  • The App keeps a copy of your lists and photos on your device so that it works without a connection.
  • Your settings are saved on your device.
  • If you use the Apple Watch app or the widgets, your iPhone passes them a copy of your lists.

6) Permissions

  • The App asks to use your camera only when you choose to take a photo of an item.
  • Photos you pick from your library are chosen by you, one at a time. The App does not have access to the rest of your library.

7) Keeping and Deleting Your Data

  • Deleting an item, a photo, or a list removes it from Google Firebase.
  • Items that have been completed for more than 30 days are removed automatically.
  • You can delete your account in the App under Settings, General, Account. This permanently deletes your account, your lists, their photos, and your favorites. Lists you have shared are deleted for everyone on them.
  • If you never sign in with Apple and do not open the App for 12 months, your anonymous account and its data are deleted automatically.
  • You can also ask us to delete your data, or for a copy of it, by emailing us at the address below.

8) Children’s Privacy

  • The App is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9) Security

Information travels between the App and Google Firebase over encrypted connections and is encrypted where Google stores it. Access rules allow only you, and the people you have shared a list with, to read or change your lists. No online service can promise perfect security.

10) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy over time. Updates will be posted in the App or on our website.
